abstract

objective(s) deregulation of the immune system through allied factors and cytokine responses are thought to be important contributors to the pathogenesis of asthma. vitamin d3 and its nuclear receptor appear to be factors that maybe involved in regulating immune responses during the progression of asthma. the aim of this study was to investigate the association between polymorphisms in intron 8 and exon 9 of the vitamin d receptor (vdr) and this disease. materials and methods this study was performed on 100 asthmatic patients and 100 healthy controls. pcr-rflp was performed to examine polymorphisms in intron 8 and exon 9 of vdr gene. results our results showed a statistically significant difference in the taq-1 evaluated genotypes of exon 9 of the vdr gene when comparing healthy patients to asthmatic patients. conclusion based on our results, it can be concluded that vdr and its functional polymorphisms may play an important role in the pathogenesis of asthma.

Vitamin D receptor gene polymorphisms are associated with adiposity phenotypes.

BACKGROUND Emerging data suggest a role for the vitamin D receptor (VDR) in lipogenesis and adipocyte differentiation. OBJECTIVE Our objective was to evaluate the association of VDR gene variants and adiposity phenotypes in an epidemiologic study. DESIGN In a sample of 1773 healthy female adults recruited from western New York, we tested for the association of 14 VDR single nucleotide polym...

association analysis of vitamin d receptor gene polymorphisms in chinese population with asthma

several asthma susceptibility loci, including a region containing the vitamin d receptor (vdr) gene located at chromosome 12q, have been identified using genome-wide screens. our aim is to investigate the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms (snps) in vdr gene and asthma. one hundred one asthma patients and 206 healthy controls were enrolled in this study. genotypes were determin...

Vitamin D Receptor Gene Polymorphisms Associated with Childhood Autism

BACKGROUND Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a group of heterogeneous, behaviorally defined disorders whereby currently no biological markers are common to all affected individuals. A deregulated immune response may be contributing to the etiology of ASD. The active metabolite of vitamin D₃ has an immunoregulatory role mediated by binding to the vitamin D receptor (VDR) in monocyte, macrophages...

Association of CCR2 Gene but not CCR5 Gene Polymorphisms with Alzheimer’s Disease

Chemokines participate in the regulation of immune and inflammatory responses by interacting with their specific receptors on related immune and inflammatory cells such as B-lymphocytes, T-lymphocytes and antigen-presenting cells. Chemokines and their receptors are therefore considered to mediate inflammation and tissue damage in autoimmune disorders. The recent studies have revealed the genoty...
